Saint Stephen's College
Our Foundation Dance classes are specially designed to give both girls and boys an introduction to the wonderful world of dance.
We cover the basics of all dance genres, working on gross motor skills, co-ordination, posture, rhythm, technique, movement, mime and confidence, all explored in a caring and fun environment.
Ballet is the foundation of all technical dance forms. Ballet instills good work ethic, etiquette, perseverance, dedication, discipline, flexibility and strength. Ballet helps you understand your body better, teaches posture, grace and builds long lean muscles. Dancers work hard in ballet but the results are worth it. At D2D we offer syllabus based classes in the international Cecchetti method. Students have the opportunity to participate in annual ballet examinations.
Our jazz classes are high energy workouts that combine strengthening, toning, flexibility and technique.
The classes are structured to include a warm-up, jazz technique and a routine all of which are taught in a fun and energetic environment with the latest top 40 hits on the playlist.
Our hip hop classes focus on the latest trends in the hip hop dance world and combine co-ordination and isolation to achieve a fun and powerful class. Get down and groovy with our gorgeous hip hop teachers as you learn the latest trends.
Participating in this class increases your understanding of music and rhythms, and helps you hear sounds and beats in music you may have never heard before. Tap is a skill that can be learnt by students of all ages.
We offer contemporary classes that are based on the ATOD (Australian Teachers of Dance) syllabus.
Our classes explore dance movement by focusing on the harmony between the light and shade of the music and the resistance and fall of the dancer.
This class focuses on strength, conditioning, flexibility and tumbling. It is perfect for dancers wanting to explore their flexibility and learn new tricks (eg. front and back walk overs / back flips / layouts / aerials etc) Students are put in to classes by the acrobatics teacher according to their experience and ability.
Our aerobics classes are high impact sessions that build on foundation steps and exercises with the aim of creating routines to be performed at the TFT Schoolaerobics Competition.
The classes focus on agile movement patterns, strength and flexibility whilst building endurance in a fast paced environment.
We offer cheer classes that combine basic dance moves with fast and varied arm choreography, floor patterning and the use of poms.
The classes are fun and energetic and work on improving ones aerobic ability as well as basic stunting. The classes work towards perfecting a routine to enter in to competitions.
Stretch & Technique
This is an extension class specially designed to improve student’s flexibility and will take them to the next level in their dance technique. We recommend that all students wishing to improve and strengthen their technique attend these classes.
This class is compulsory for Yr 1-12 students in D2D performance teams.
Lyrical dance combines techniques of classical ballet and jazz, as well as some modern elements. These classes are for dancers who like precision and rhythm, physical challenges, and personal style and expression particularly with lyrically expressive songs. Exercises focus on increasing flexibility and strength, rhythms and isolation of body parts, and expressing personal style.
Broadway (Song & Dance)
Broadway (Song & Dance) is the fusion of singing, dancing, and acting with performance on stage. These classes are for dancers who like the spotlight, drama, singing, and telling a story through dance. Exercises focus on increasing flexibility, strength, confidence, and performance. As students’ progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
Cabaret (Chorus Heels)
Cabaret combines Ballet, Jazz and Musical Theatre elements while incorporating the showgirl technique of dancing in heels. The choreography is created to entertain audiences with slick, sharp and stylish movements. Cabaret will train you to walk, execute movements and add character to your dance. Every week you will get a different style of cabaret, from an upbeat jazz fusion to a more classical cabaret class.
